【Must-sees for parents and kids!】What is traditional Japanese calligraphy?
Good evening!
Today, I would like to introduce some things what to use by Japanese calligraphy.☆彡(To be honest, it should be told in the beginning of this blog…)
To begin with, why is it always in hiragana when it's a calligraphy blog!
Have you ever wondered. Where is the calligraphy?
I will explain two advantages of learning from Hiragana first.
①You can write after you get used to the letter forms
It is so difficult to write some words with a brush without experience.
It is much less difficult to start with Hiragana, a simplified version of kanji developed by the Japanese.
Not so awkward to approach.
➁Increased the time of practice
There may have been a time before World War II when a brush was the norm, but today, pens are the norm.
I believe that formal documents are required to be written with an indelible pen.
It would be obvious whether you are more likely to use a brush or a pen. pen>brush
Learning from the most frequently used methods is a good way to build up practice.
Since we use these letters daily, including our own names, we want people to be aware of them on a daily basis.
Based on the above, please start by writing "Hiragana" with a pencil or pen.
Since pens require more pressure, we recommend that parents use pens and children use pencils (B or 2B).
After that step is calligraphy.
The following is the minimum required at first.
This one comes with a case, so I think it is a good deal.
Without a case, it would still fall apart…
Oops! My apologies! What is the minimum required:
①Large and small brushes (fude) at any size: for writing letters and names
➁Paperweight (bunchin): holds a Japanese writing paper(hanshi)
③Ink stone (suzuri): put ink in it
④Calligraphy ink (bokujyu): used in the suzuri
⑤Japanese writing paper (hanshi)…paper for writing letters
These are the above five items.
I am sure that the process of rubbing ink stone with water - to make sumi ink - will be taught at school (Sorry, Japanese only).
I think there is no problem if you omit the dropper and calligraphy ink when you do it at home.
In our next issue, I will also show you what my children use.(*^^*)
