【Culture】What is a Goshuin?

Recently, it is a boom to collect Goshuin from temples and shrines all over the Japan.

Goshuin is a paper which designs on the name of the shrines or temples and has a red stamp on it.

Each of temples and shrines has different types of design, so people have fun to collect them.

When collecting those Goshuin, it is convenient to save them to Goshuincho.

What is the history of Goshuin?

According to one theory, they were distributed so that those who lived far away and could not easily visit could pray at home at any time.

So, let’s visit Japan and to get the Goshuin!

This is what I got from Sakuragi shrine in Chiba prefecture , Japan.

These words in Goshuin are written by Japanese calligraphy.

In the center of the word, "卯(it shows this year, rabbit)," and the below it says Sakuragi shrine.

It is not written in the style of character, Kaisho, it more looks like design calligraphy.

As seeing the words, the scene which I saw in the shrine and the time which I prayed came back.

That is the power which Japanese calligraphy has.

You can also purchase some Goshuincho or Goshuin online.
